As we are studying "Deafness" I have an OPTIONAL opportunity/invitation that I would like to make available to you. On February 5th and 6th the Kentucky School for the Deaf is hosting their LEGENDS/HOMECOMING CLASSIC WEEKEND. I am planning on going to the basketball game on Saturday evening, the 6th. I would love to have students to accompany me to the game. We can meet there or meet on campus and carpool. I have a van and am happy to have anyone ride with me who wants/needs a ride to Danville.
Click on the link above (Post title) to see a schedule for the full events of the day. I plan to attend the girls and boys game on Saturday afternoon/evening which begins at 5:30. This means we would need to meet on campus in the parking lot beside Wallace at 4:30.
If you would like to attend please leave a comment and let us know if you will drive and meet in Richmond or Danville or if you would like to ride.

I want to go! I have been trying to talk Steven into going with me but he knows absolutely no sign language, making me unsuccessful at convincing him to go. So if I can still get him to go I will drive and people can ride with us or we will follow.
ReplyDeleteI was already planning on attending, so I would love to go! Katlyn, my boyfriend went with me to the last KSD basketball game I went to and he doesn't know any sign language either, but he found it really interesting. He is a huge sports fan and was interested in the game more than anything else.
ReplyDeleteI would like to ride! :)
ReplyDeleteHey! So I'm not sure how many spots you have available in your car, but I have a friend that is also an ITP student, that would love to come to KSD'S hc with me. Would there be enough room to take us both? If not, I can totally find another ride, just thought I'd ask! :) See you all next Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteI would also like to go with!!!! I would love a ride Ms.White! If there is not enough room I don't care to drive or carpool!
ReplyDeleteI have a van and am willing to take as many as we can safely fit. I'll put the seats in across the middle and back as it's an 8 person van. One of my students from last semester in SED260, Agnes, is going. Leah, you're welcome to bring your friend who is an ITP student. Jump in, Sandy! The first ones to speak up here on the blog have the seats. You are welcome to invite anyone. I'm not an "exclusive" kind of person. All are welcome!
ReplyDeleteLike I said in class, would love to go, would be a good opportunity to brush up on my signing. I have something to take care of in Berea that morning but should be back in plenty of time.
ReplyDeleteHey hey! i have a group of 3! if there is room for us! :) We would love to go!
ReplyDeleteI am excited about the number of you wanting to go! This will be a fun evening for all of us! I have room for six people to ride. I'll take students first and then others. It appears from the blog that there are six who want to go. I'd LOVE for the others to attend as well. Perhaps there will be some other students who are attending and will be driving and are willing to have others ride with them as well. Actually, the seat across the back may fit four so . . .
ReplyDeleteI didn't manage to talk my boyfriend into going but my little brother who is learning sign language is going to go with me. So I have room for two or three people to ride with me if any one wants to. I say two or three cause my car is tiny. Just let me know.
ReplyDeleteSo I think I'm going to end up driving because it ends up that my boyfriend is coming in from West Virginia along with another friend for a surprise visit! except he is bad at keeping surprises so now i know...... anyway so even though my boyfriend doesn't know sign he's going :) so there are now 4 in my group so we will be taking a car... but it would be wonderful to follow since we don't know where we are going :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like there's going to be alot of people going to this, it sounds like it will be fun. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteOk . . . so here's the scoop on the seats in the van. Today I had lunch with a friend who was able to put the middle seat in the van. So, now I have the full seat across the back and the two seats in the middle row. That means a minimum of six and if you sit close seven could ride with me. I'm taking a former SED260 student with me, too.
ReplyDeleteWe'll meet in the faculty parking lot beside Wallace and leave around 4:30. I've actually never driven TO Danville FROM Richmond, although I have a GPS! Once I get to Danville I obviously know where the campus and the gym is.
I'm so looking forward to spending this time several of you. I know we'll have a great time and enjoy this Deaf Culture experience.
Any of you who are driving are obviously welcome to follow and join us after the game for dinner if you would like. Those who are meeting us there are also welcome to join in on the dinner fun, too. The more the merrier!
Oh and Stephanie - - if you are TOO BEAUTIFUL from your Mary Kay party we might NOT let you sit with us at the game!! Just kidding!
Hey everyone! So...I was telling my mom about this weekend and she told me that her and my dad had been planning on surprising me tomorrow with a visit. They should be gone in time for me to still go, but I will probably be driving separate and might be a little late, just so that I can visit with them as long as possible! But I'll see you guys down there tomorrow night!! :) I'm so excited!
ReplyDeleteWe will save you a seat at the game :) and of course a spot at the silent dinner! The great part is there is the girls' game at 5:30 and the guys at 7:30 - so plenty of time to catch some fun!
ReplyDeleteIf the SNOW comes and the roads are bad we will definitely have to rethink this trip. Safety is FIRST. I will definitely put a notice here as to what we are doing!

ReplyDeleteSo my friends now aren't coming. West Virginia is under a foot of snow where i'm from. if there are 2 seats for my roommate and me we would love to ride! :)
